What is the Indicator?

Gross disposable household income (GDHI) is the amount of money that all of the individuals in the household sector have available for spending or saving after income distribution measures (for example, taxes, social contributions and benefits) have taken effect. GDHI per head are estimates of values for each person, not each household.

GDHI (£ per head) has increased gradually over the last decade - following a similar pattern to the UK as a whole.

The slow growth in incomes in Wales since the recession reflects an unprecedented slowdown in the growth of productivity.

Comparisons between 2020 and 2021 for GDHI per head estimates are classed as unreliable due to a discontinuity in population data for some areas, caused by differences in the timing of census updates.
