What is the Indicator?

Total amount (kg) of residual waste (i.e. waste that is not collected for reuse, recycling or composting) in Wales, by all sectors, on a per person basis. This indicator is calculated from three separate elements: Household waste, Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste and Industrial & Commercial (I&C) waste.

What does the data say?

There was a considerable decrease in the amount of waste generated, that is not recycled, per person, between 2012 and 2019 (from 794kg to 523kg). The amount of waste not recycled decreased for each of the three components that comprise this national indicator Household waste, I&C waste and C&D waste.

Other trends

Residual household waste per person (the amount of household waste not recycled per person) data are currently published on an annual basis. This represents one of the three elements of the National Indicator.
